Working without a predetermined outcome, I build paintings through layers of color, texture, and mark-making. Rather than creating literal representations of a place or object, her work explores the relationship between instinct, memory, and visual balance. The Hand Behind the Canvas
Amber Ewart is an abstract artist based in Austin, Texas, where she has lived for more than fourteen years. Her work is influenced by both the vibrant gardens and landscapes of Central Texas and the mountain scenery of Lake City, Colorado, where her family has spent summers for generations and where she has returned each year since infancy.
For nearly twenty years, Amber has been drawn to bold color, organic shapes, texture, and the interplay between contrast and blending. These elements form the foundation of her artistic practice and continue to guide her intuitive approach to painting.
